All proceeds for the event will go to the Lakewood Police Independent Guild and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

There will be a “Run from the Heart” event to benefit the family of slain Pierce County Deputy Kent Mundell. Registration for the event will take place Saturday, February 12, 2010, at noon, at Fort Steilacoom Park.  Read more

Copper thefts in Gig Harbor, Washington

Posted by: Donald Bambenek II in Local News

Tagged in: Untagged

Gig Harbor, Washington, continues to be victimized by individuals who are stealing copper, wherever it can be found.  The latest incidents involve the cutting of wiring leading to lighting structures. This is very costly to the community and even puts our children at risk.  If these wires are charged and exposed, coming into contact with them could be shocking to say the least.

I know you expect the police to investigate and resolve this, but don’t count on it.  They are already overworked and short on manpower.  It is your duty as a concerned citizen to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.  Critical information such as the exact location of the incident, your observations, a vehicle description (make and color), a license plate number, and a description of the individuals involved, would be very useful.

If you have personal knowledge about these incidents, it is time to STAND UP and contact Gig Harbor Police immediately.

If you have been on vacation, or are unaware of these crimes please read the THE NEWS TRIBUNE:

In what appears to be a freak accident, Portland Private Investigator Michael Anthony Zerwas, 57 died from hypothermia and drowning afte falling into an old forgotten cistern in his backyard.

Firefighters found Zerwas' body submerged in what they believe was a 100-year-old, round cistern. The water level was 15 feet below the rim. After pumping some of the water out, firefighter Justin de Ruyter said a technical rescue team placed a tripod over the opening and used ropes to pull Zerwas' body out.

Public Hearing in Oly - Public Disclosure

Fellow investigators,

After reviewing the proposed changes to WAC 308-10 it appears that there is no change planned (yet) to amend the clause that requires that the subject be notified by mail that a search had been run on them or their vehicles, when the search is performed by a PI or a PI Agency.

But we can change that. This is our golden opportunity to take action against this discriminatory, unnecessary and counter-productive requirement.

I'm urging all PI's to write to Mr. Shomshor with their concerns now, and to join me at the hearing in Olympia November 13, at 13:00.  I've found Mr. Shomshor to be very responsive and genuinely interested in our input.

Please detail the problems you have encountered because of the notification letter and especially describe any incidents where the letter made using IVIPS impossible.
Frankly I don't care if an attorney's search generates a letter. From what I hear, attorney misuse caused this situation in the first place. If you do care, then this is your opportunity to raise that concern.

You may submit your written comments as an attachment to an email to:

Possible Changes to Public Disclosure Rules

Notice of possible changes to public disclosure rules.

We are considering adopting changes to WAC 308-10 relating to public records disclosure. Included in the proposed changes are new rules governing access to digital information - including our Internet Vehicle/Vessel Processing System ( I VI PS) - and disclosure of electronic records, as well as expanded and updated definitions. IVIPS is an application that allows approved users to access a copy of vehicle or vessel title and registration information from a secure internet site.  The proposed changes, together with the hearing date and time, can be viewed online at http://www.dol.wa.gov/about/vehiclerules.html. If you'd like more information or are interested in participating in the rule-writing process, please contact:
